  Review Final Configuration

 5 - Set DNS

6 - Set IP Lease Duration

7 - Complete DHCP Server Settings

Step 4: Configure WAN for Mikrotik.

Step 5: NAT traffic from LAN  to  Internet - Allow Internet Access

 Step 6.Define the final parameters.

 Final Check of Configuration

If your computer has a wireless card connected to the Internet, the LAN card should not configure a gateway.

Open the Winbox software and connect to the router. On the Neighbors tab, if you see that the router has an IP address, double-click the IP address field to connect. If IP = 0.0.0.0, connect via MAC address – connection via MAC is less stable than connection via IP

 2. Update Mikrotik router firmware.

The next step is to update the routerOS software to the latest version. The latest version makes your router run smoother and  also fixes security issues.

Go back to the Mikrotik downloads page, scroll down to RouterOS and find the entry for your router. In the Main Package row, click  the latest stable (or long-term) version to save it to your computer. The other two beta versions should not be used unless you want to test them.

The saved file is named *.npk (e.g. routeros-mipsbe-6.47.2.npk).Go back to the Winbox connected to your router to update. The procedure is as follows:

 • Go to the File menu to upload this file to the root directory.

 • Reboot to reboot the router and complete the upgrade.

Downloading is also very easy. Go to the "File" menu and keep the Winbox windows and the folder window with the downloaded file side by side. Drag and drop the file  into the Winbox file window.

 3. Delete all settings from the router.

After performing the upgrade again, you can proceed with clearing the settings.Go back to Winbox and go to  System > Restore Configuration to erase all settings made. Note the No default configuration check box

II. Basic steps to configure Mikrotik

Step 1: Create a bridge for a Local Area Network (LAN)
 • In routerOS, a bridge is a bridge that connects hosts on different networks. It was created to connect interfaces like Ethernet interface, WiFi, VLAN, etc.
 • Here we can roughly understand that creating a bridge means creating a group of ports that can be connected like a switch.
 • Go to the Bridge menu, click + to add a bridge and name it Bridge-LAN

good link

Then add the necessary ports  to the newly created bridge.
In the Bridge window, click the Ports tab and press the plus sign (+) to add a port. Below are the 4 ports 2 to 5 included in the bridge LAN.

Step 2: Set the IP address of the newly created bridge.

This IP address acts as a gateway for  clients on the LAN.In Winbox go to menu IP > Addresses to open the Address List panel. Press + and specify IP:

Mac Os

Step 3: Configure the DHCP server for the LAN bridge.

Go to  IP Menu > DHCP server to open the settings window. Click the DHCP Configuration button  to open the panel. Select "Bridge LAN" and click "Next" to continue.
1 – DHCP Setup

2 – Set IP range, automatically set if bridge already has IP

3 – Set gateway ID

4 – Set first and last IP

5 – Set DNS
6 – Set IP lease time

7 – Finish DHCP server settings

Step 4: Configure WAN for Mikrotik. The

WAN for routers comes in many forms, typically as a DHCP  or PPPoE client. In this installation guide, we select PPPoE  to install  WAN port on Ether1.
To install PPPOE, go to the PPP menu  to open the secondary window. In this window, click  + and select PPPoE Client from the drop-down menu.

The "New interface" window opens, in which you must make the settings:

In the next step of configuring PPPOE, you need to select two items: "Use Peer DNS" and "Add Default Route" to automatically connect PPPOE via DNS provided by your carrier and also automatically add a route via Difetto.
If you do not select these 2 items, you must enter the DNS manually and completely predefined.

After clicking OK to create the PPPoE interface, you are done. When the modem has switched to bridge mode and the Ether1 cable from the router has been connected to the modem, this interface will start contacting the network operator to obtain an IP address.

Step 5: NAT LAN traffic to the Internet – Allow internet access

Access menu IP > Firewall and select tab NAT.

In the Firewall window, select the NAT tab  and click the button marked + to add a NAT rule.

In the  New NAT Rule window: Enter values in the General tab as above. Then go to the "Action" tab:

After clicking "OK" you will get a NAT rule that allows all local networks to NAT connect to the Internet. Creating such a rule is a complete NAT rule - it works for any other bridge or interface.
If you configure Mikrotik at a more advanced level, you can specify more options when creating a NAT rule, e.g. E.g. "In - Interface", "Source Address", etc. However, creating rules as described in this article also works at a basic level. Final version.
After this step, the machines on the LAN bridge can connect to the Internet normally.

Step 6. Set the final parameters.

You can now access the following settings to complete the installation

• Set a password for the administrator account in the system > Password.
 • Optional DNS on IP > set. DNS
 • Set system date and time for automatic update: System > SNTP Client
 • Install some basic firewall rules  to increase system security.

III. Final

Setup Verification • After completing step 6 above, you should have a reasonably good router. You can  use a computer connected to Ether2 to test the internet or do an external ping test to see the results.
