Israel tightens crackdown on Gaza City

Israel said it was tightening its "tightening" on Hamas in Gaza City. Smoke rose over the densely populated coastal enclave as the Palestinian death toll rose to more than 10,500.






Military analysts have warned of weeks of intense urban fighting in the Gaza Strip, where around 30 Israeli soldiers have already been killed in attacks, according to AFP news agency. 


The operation is extremely complicated for Israel because the hostages, including young children and frail elderly people, are believed to be held in a vast network of tunnels.
